James "Jamie" Wetherby, age 40, of 501 Webster Street, died December 31, 2008, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services are Monday, January 5, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Evangelical Free Church with Rev. Norman Adamson officiating. Burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery.
Jamie was born in San Diego, California, on August 21, 1968, the son of Sonny and Mary Ann (Medeiros) Bromley. He was a graduate of Boone High School. On April 19, 2003, he married Wendy Watkins in Boone. In earlier years, he was employed as a steel worker in construction and then as a self-employed painter, retiring in 2000, due to illness. Jamie lived most of his life in Boone. He was a member of the First Evangelical Free Church. Jamie enjoyed vacationing, reading his Bible, playing guitar, and spending time with the children. He also liked to watch movies on television.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Heather Drusch. Jamie is survived by his wife, Wendy of Boone; two sons, Jacob Wetherby and Chance Beardon, both of Boone; four daughters, Jelisha Wetherby of Chicago, Illinois, Emily Drusch of Boone, Lona Beardon of Stratford, and Dana Beardon of Boone; his parents, Sonny and Mary Ann Bromley of Griswold, Connecticut; four brothers, Ray Wetherby of Swanton, Vermont, Jack Wetherby of Champlain, New York, John Wetherby of Boone, and Joseph Wetherby; a sister, Mary Catherine Wetherby of Boone; several grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall on Sunday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Visitation continues Monday at the funeral chapel from 8:00 until 10:00 a.m. and then at the Church from 12 noon until the time of the 1:00 p.m. service.
Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.
