A Sad Accident.
A sad accident occurred at the family home of T. S. Cromwell, southeast of Luther, Tuesday afternoon, August 4th, which resulted in the death early Wednesday morning of his little daughter, Becka Ann. She was playing with her sister in the loft of the smoke house. She was sitting on a small stone jar, and unaware of her danger, moved too near the edge and fell to the floor below about seven feet, striking the back of her head on a twenty gallon stone jar. She was rendered unconscious and remained in that condition until about 2:00 o'clock Wednesday morning when she passed away. The funeral services were held from the Christian church at Luther at 10:00 o'clock Thursday morning, attended by a large gathering of sorrowing relatives and friends. Many beautiful floral tributes attested the esteem of friends. The remains were laid to rest in Meadow Grove cemetery beside her mother and infant sister. Becka Ann Cromwell was born September 8, 1900 and died August 5, 1908, aged seven years, ten months and twenty-seven days. At the age of eighteen months she was deprived of a loving mother's care and since then she and her four sisters have been loved and cared for by a devoted father. The family have the sincere sympathy of a host of friends in their sudden and sad bereavement.
