Services for James R. (Ray) Pope, 79, of 1704 Fifty-seventh St., who died Thrusday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center of a heart attack, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery.
Born in Madrid, Mr. Pope lived in Des Moines for 50 years. He was owner of Pope's Fashion Center and was a member of the Waveland Park Masonic Lodge, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Master Barbers Association. He was a World War I veteran and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Grace; three sons, Robert, Richard and Roger, all of Des Moines; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. today at the Westover Funeral Home. The family suggests any memorial contributions be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
