James Harvey Wheeler was born on Jan. 7, 1889, at Madrid, Iowa to James Buchanan and Bessie Swanson Wheeler. He departed this life at the Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines on March 20, 1977. On March 15, 1911 he was united in marriage to Lola Ethlyn Stover, who preceded him to heaven on December 4, 1969. He spent most of his life farming in the Madrid area, and upon retirement purchased the home in Woodward, where he has since lived.
He is survived by all seven of his children: Ralph of Granger, Marjorie Swim of Branson, Mo., Herbert of Des Moines, Drexel of Acworth, Ga., Betty Krasche of Woodward, Shirley Funk of Ankeny and Janet Beebe of Urbandale and by 15 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
He was a devoted and loving husband and an inspiration to his children and all who knew him.
