J. D. BARNEVELT BEREAVED OF MOTHER
Died in Des Moines at age of 85 years - Born in Holland

Rena Margreta Barnevelt, mother of J. D. Barnevelt of Madrid, passed away in Des Moines, Iowa, on Thursday, August 13th, 1925, at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 14 days. She was born in Holland in the year 1840 and came with her parents to this country when very young.
She was among the first settlers in the town of Pella, Iowa.
Richard Barnevelt, her husband, came over from Holland to this country with the founder of the town of Pella. It was in this town that Richard Barnvelt and the subject of this sketch met and were married. It was also here that our townsman J. D. Barnevelt was born and raised.
After the death of her husband she moved to Des Moines and for the past few years of her life she resided at the home of her niece, Mrs. John Baker.
The funeral services were held on Saturday, the 15th, and were conducted from the Central Chruch of Christ at 2 o'clock. Interment was in the Glendale cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. John Barnevelt, Mrs. Adam Hoop, Mrs. Rena Mitchell and her two daughters of Perry were in attendance at the funeral.
She leaves to mourn her departure one son, J. D. Barnevelt, four grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
