DIED LAST THURSDAY.

____________
Mrs. Joseph Stover Succumbs to a Long Illness.

Last Thursday at her home south-west of Madrid, occurred the death of Mrs. Joseph Stover whose serious illness had extended over several months.
Mrs. Mary E Stover, whose maiden name was Wheeler, died at her home near Madrid, March 17, 1910. She was born in Boone county at Belle Point, near Madrid Feb. 6, 1853, and was 57 years, 1 month and eleven days of age at the time of her death. At the early age of eighteen she united with the Methodist church and continued a faithful member to the end.
On Dec. 6, 1874, she united in marriage with Joseph Stover. Unto this union were born eight children of whom all are living, as follows: Mrs. S. Houchin of Mellette, S. Dak., Benj. Stover of Ashton, S. Dak., Mrs. J. Fox of Granger, J. R. Stover, Mrs. W Grow, and Mrs J. Shearer of Madrid, Ross L. and Grover C., living at home.
Mrs. Stover has been a patient sufferer for over a year, and she has expressed herself repeatedly as only waiting for the summons. Hers was a useful life; her home was always open to the needy; her hand always ready to do good. She will be missed by a multitude of friends who deeply sympathize with the bereaved. Her labors on earth are ended and she has entered that home not built by hand but eternal in heaven.
The funeral was held from the Methodist church of Madrid Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, attended by an unusually large crowd of relatives, old neighbors and friends who had gathered to pay their last tribute of reverence and respect to the memory of the one they had known so well and so long. The service was in charge of the pastor, Rev. E. O. Douglass, who spoke words of comfort to the bereaved. The remains were interred in the Mt. Hope cemetery at the close of the services.
