Died:--At her home in Cass township, on Sunday, Jan. 20th, 1889, of Acute Gastritis, Mr. Amanda L. Carrell, aged 54 years.
Mrs. Carrell was born in Ohio Nov. 17th, 1834; and when eight years of age removed with her parents to Iowa, and in 1851 moved to Boone county, and since that time has been a resident of that county. She was married to John Carrell in 1852, and was the mother of ten children, nine of whom are now living - 5 girls and 4 boys; the youngest being 18 years old. Her father died when she was only 9 years old, but her mother still survises her. She was converted in the Methodist church when quite young and has lived a consistant Christian life ever since. At one time she was a member of the United Brethern church, but at the time of her death held no membership in any church. She was concious death was near and her last words were, "I am ready and willing to go to my Blessed Redeemer." The funeral services were held at the house on Tuesday, after which the remains of the cherished and beloved one were interred in the Wordward cemetery.
