Helen Rose (Cooper) Uthe, age 89 of rural Boone, died Saturday, January 12, 2008 at Abington on Grand Care Center in Ames. She was born on April 3, 1918 in Ames to William and Anna (Pantenburg) Cooper.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Ames. Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.
Helen graduated from Napier School, attended cosmetology school and worked in Ames until her marriage to Raymond H. Uthe on January 2, 1940. They farmed in Williams, Ellsworth and finally in Boone, IA since 1956. She enjoyed reading and gardening.
Preceding her in death were an infant son, Eugene; sisters Marcella, Wilma, Darlene; and brother Robert.
Survivors include husband Raymond; daughters Colleen Anderson (Bernard) of Kankakee, IL, and Janet Ramsay (Rex) of Des Moines; son Donald Uthe (Janice) of Ames; grandchildren Lisa Ramsay, Katie Ramsay, Scott Uthe, Stacy Uthe, Stephanie Uthe, and Kevin Uthe, and great-grandson Ryan Uthe.
