Twanette "Tony" (Good) Veale Sparks, age 89, of Boone and the Eastern Star Masonic Home, died at the Home on January 21, 2008. Funeral services are Friday, January 25, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Andrea Kraushaar officiating. Burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery.
Tony was born south of Boxholm on July 8, 1918, the daughter of Loyd and Anna (Anholt) Good. She graduated from Boxholm Consolidated High School in 1935. On July 27, 1941, Tony married Marion Harold Veale in Boone. He died in 1975. She married George Alden Sparks on July 9, 1978, in Boone. George died in 1986. Tony was a homemaker and also the lunch hall supervisor at the Boone High School from 1960 to 1972, when she retired. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. In earlier years, she belonged to the Central Christian Church and taught Sunday School there. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and dancing. Tony loved to read, especially biography, fiction, daily devotions, and her Bible.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and a sister, Vera Peterson. Tony is survived by a son, James Veale of Boone and a daughter, Ruthanne Veale Wilson and husband, Mike of Traverse City, Michigan; three grandchildren: Suellen Swain and husband, Will of Iowa City, Joe Wilson and fiancée, Emily Lagerquist of Traverse City, Michigan, and Andy Wilson of Lansing, Michigan; two great-grandchildren, Max and Henry Swain of Iowa City; a stepdaughter, Jo Ellen Engnell and husband Bob of Maysville, Missouri; and a sister, Gretchen Nystrom of Stratford.
Friends may call on Thursday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall where the family will be present from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Visitation continues Friday at the Church from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. service. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church.
