William "Bill" Shadle, age 72, of 314 West 7th Street, died January 20, 2008, at the Evangelical Free Church Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 26, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Evangelical Free Church with Don Howard officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery southwest of Boone.
Bill was born in Jefferson, Iowa, on January 12, 1936, the son of William and Charlet (Evans) Shadle. He attended school in Beaver and Grand Junction and he graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1954. On April 6, 1957, Bill married Janice Miller at Webster City.
In earlier years, Bill worked as a mechanic for Condon's DX service station. He then worked in the maintenance department at 3-M in Ames as a machine mechanic retiring in 1997. Bill enjoyed camping and fishing at Spirit Lake, hunting, reading western books, playing blackjack, and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes football and basketball on television.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Bill is survived by his wife Janice of Boone; a son, Randy Shadle and wife Kim of Boone; two daughters, Roxann Teeter and husband Richard of Quapaw, Oklahoma and Becky George and husband Dan of Boone; a brother, Bob Shadle of Boone; six grandchildren: JoEllen Short, Amanda Hall, Richard Teeter, Jr., Gregory Teeter, Daniel George, and Michael George; three great grandsons: Cody Short, Joshua Short, and Brandon Teeter.
Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall on Friday from noon until 8 p.m. where the family will be present to receive friends from 6:30 until 8 p.m. Visitation continues Saturday at the Church from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.
Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.
