Born In Germany, Mrs. Caroline

at Daughter's Home

Mrs. Caroline Mueller's funeral services were held Friday, September 25. There was a brief prayer service at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Herman Peter, 1316 Story street. The Rev. Otto Erbe, pastor of the Trinity Lutheran church, was in charge and read the ritual of the church and offered prayer.

At the Trinity Lutheran church, where further rites were held, the pastor addressed a large group of sorrowing relatives and fiends on Revelations 7:9, "After this I beheld a great multitude which no man could number, stood before the throne and before the Lamb."

Children of the parochial school, directed by Miss Willa Koenig, sang "Asleep in Jesus" and "Abide With Me". The many floral tributes sent by sorrowing relatives and friends were cared for by Mrs. Paul Haase, Mrs. Albert Schroeder, Miss Pauline Krug and Miss Helen Behling.

Grandchildren of Mrs. Mueller acted as pallbearers. They were Otto Bockwoldt, William Reyelts, William Mueller, Louis Bockwoldt, Dwight Bowes and Carl Leininger. Internment was in St. Paul's cemetery at Mackey.

Born in 1857

Caroline Henrietta Ahrendt was born January 23, 1857 in Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany. As a child she attended the schools of her native community, joining the Lutheran church by the rite of confirmation at the usual time. For some years subsequently she found employment in the homes of that locality.

Following the death of her father the mother of the family with six children emigrated to the United States, where a home was established near Buthenburg, Iowa. In the year 1871 the deceased move to Luzerne, Iowa, where she was united in marriage to William Bernhard Mueller.

To Boone County

After the marriage, January 12, 1875, the young family located on a farm near Atkins, Iowa, remaining there until 1892 when a new home was established in Harrison township, Boone County, Iowa. The husband died in 1897 but the family continued on the farm until 1908 when Boone became the permanent home. The following years were spent in visits to her children and in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Bockwoldt.

Surviving her are the children, Mrs. Mary Buckwoldt and William C. Mueller, Boone; Mrs. Hy. Leininger, Collis, Minnesota; Mrs. Herman Peters, Boone; Mrs. Dorothea Reyelts, Boyden, Iowa; Mrs. Emma Tipple, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Rudolph Fick, Boyden, Iowa. Two children preceded her in death. A sister, Mrs. William Werning of Parkstone, S. Dak., 27 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren also survive.

79 Years Old

Long a sufferer of facial neuralgia the deceased bore her cross in Christian patience, longing for the time of her dissolution. The infirmities of old age hastened her death which occurred Tuesday September 22, when she was 79 years, seven months and 29 days old.

A consecrated member of Trinity Lutheran for many years, a splendid Christian character and a true mother in Israel has gone to her eternal reward. A large circle of fiends mourn her loss.
