Obituary--John Beckstrom.
John Alfred Beckstrom, son of Adolf E. and Johanna Charlotta Beckstrom, was born Sept. 19, 1877, in Sodra Vi socken, Kalmar lan, Smaland, Sweden. Through holy baptism he became a member of the Lutheran church of Sweden.

He came to America together with his parents in the year of 1883. The Beckstrom family became members of our Grant Center Lutheran church in the year 1891.

He was instructed and confirmed in the year 1894, instructed by Catechist Seashore and confirmed by Rev. Christianson, then pastor of the Dayton Lutheran church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters who died in early infancy, also by his brother, Gottfried.

After a lingering illness of some four months duration, he passed away at the home of his sister, Mrs. Charles Swanson, where he had been tenderly cared for during the last days of his life. He died last Tuesday morning, July 20th, at about 4 a.m. at the age of 59 years, 10 months and 3 days.

He leaves to mourn his passing away his one sister, Mrs. Charles Swanson of Boxholm, four brothers, Anton, also of Boxholm, Carl August of Palo Alto county, Iowa, Axel Elof, also of Palo Alto county, Iowa, and Otto Emil of St. James, Minn., together with other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon, a brief service being held at the Chas. Swanson home in Boxholm, followed by a service at the Grant Center Lutheran church, Rev. C. Philip Holmberg officiating. Misses Ruth Larson and Iona Swanson rendered several musical numbers. Interment was made at the Prairie Lawn cemetery.
