Gust Asklund Funeral Rites December 21.
Interment Made in Local Cemetery.

Funeral services for Gust Asklund were held in the home on Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m. Rev. Frederick A. Jacobson officiated, and together with his wife sang two songs, "Down in the Valley" and "In the Garden." Interment was at Glenwood cemetery of Ogden. Pallbearers were: Albert Carlson, Anton Carlson, Chas. J. Erickson, Eric Hagaleen, Alf Johnson and Chas. Lorens. Flower committee: Mrs. Wm. McCollom, Mrs. Octavia Jones.

Attending from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Ed Dyvig and Mr. and Mrs. Alden Flaws, Webster City, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Stuhldryer, Eagle Grove, Iowa; Mr. John Swanson and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Asklund and daughter Junella, Boxholm; Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Hageleen, Mr. Elmer Standberg, Boone; Mr. and Mrs. M.T. Higgins, Huron, South Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Asklund, Missouri Valley, Iowa.

Mr. Gust Asklund was born in Atordaberg Ostergotland, Sweden, February 10, 1862. As an infant he was baptized and later on was confirmed there by the State Lutheran church. He came to the United States in 1884 and worked in the Pullman shops in Chicago for a few months. He then came to Ogden and worked in the coal mines. A little later he worked on the railroad and remained in that work the rest of his working days. He was known as a hard worker.

On December 17, 1887 he was married to Maria Hagaleen at Boone. Six children were born to their happy marriage, one preceding him in death by the name of Carl. The other five surviving children are: Harry of Boxholm, Elmer of Missouri Valley, Mrs. Lillian Higgins of Huron, South Dakota, Victor and Glen of Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. Asklund had been married 57 years and one day.

Mr. Asklund had a stroke on February 10th this year which made him bedfast until his death last Monday evening, December 18th at 7 p.m. At the time of his death he was 82 years, 10 months and 8 days.

He leaves to mourn his departure his beloved wife and five children, ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
