The Ogden Reporter, Sept. 1916:

Our community has again been visited by the Grim Reaper, summoning one of the oldest citizens of Ogden to the great beyond.

Jonas P. Hageleen was born in Horns Socken, Linkopings Lan, Sweden, January 5, 1833. He was united in marriage with Miss Christina Gran, Nov. 29, 1858. Their marriage has been blessed with seven children, of whom two, Anton and Gottffrid, are dead. The other five are all living in Ogden.

The Hageleen family arrived in America in May, 1885, and they have since that time been residents of Ogden.

Mr. Hageleen joined the Swedish Mission church of this city April 7, 1891, of which he was a member until it pleased God to call him to the congregation above.

Death came as a peaceful messenger Sept. 2 at 4 a.m., relieving him from all mortal pains. He was at his death 83 years, 8 months, and 27 days.

Those who feel the bereavement the most are his aged wife, Mrs. Christina Hageleen, five children, Mrs. R. Sturesund (sic), Mrs. Alfred Johnson, Mrs. Asklund, Eric and Oscar Hageleen, a sister, Mrs. Beckstrom, 19 grandchildren. Besides those mentioned there are a number of other relatives and friends.

After a short funeral service at the home, the funeral proper was held at the Swedish Mission church Sept. 4 at 2 p.m. The great number of those present and also the floral offerings, bore witness that the deceased one had many friends.

The pall bearers were six grandchildren of the departed one. While the organist, Miss Rundberg, played a funeral march, the procession proceeded up the isle (sic).

Rev. Arvid W. Alden spoke in the Swedish, using Psalm 1 as text. A male trio sang a few appropriate songs. After those present had taken a last look at the mortal frame the procession proceeded to the Glenwood cemetery, where a short service was held, after which the remains were laid to rest to await Christ's summons on the day of resurrection.
