Rasmus Storesund Died At Home In This City. Funeral Services Held Monday From Ev. Miss. Church. Rasmus Storesund, well known Ogden resident, passed away at his home in Ogden, Friday evening about 10:30 o'clock after several days of illness. He was nearly eighty years old & a retired railroad man.

"Thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age." Genesis 15:15.

After a long & adventurous life, yet peaceful in character, Mr. Rasmus Storesund was called home to glory Friday, March 24. It is not needful to write in this biography a eulogium upon his life & career. The life that he has lived speaks for itself. His life is representative of that of the patriarchs of the Old Testament. He was the father of a large household & like Jacob of old he spoke a dying blessing to each of his children, admonishing them to walk in the way of "Truth."

Mr. Storesund was born in Haugesund, Norway on May 3, 1854. His childhood was spent in much the same fashion as that of the ordinary Norwegian lad. He left home at an early age to pursue the life of a sailor, & for sixteen years he sailed the deep blue seas, touching most of the important seaports on the Atlantic Ocean. These years were filled with adventure, dangers & hardships so common to the sailors of the 19th century. Mr. Storesund had crossed the Atlantic Ocean thirteen times.

At the age of twenty-two he married Anna Oline Tostenson of Haugesund, March 17, 1877 & to this union were born four children. In 1881 Mr. Storesund with his wife & children left Norway & arrived in Sheldahl, IA June 1. In 1882 they moved to Ogden where Mr. Storesund became section foreman for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad Company. In January 1886 his wife passed away & was buried in Glenwood Cemetery. March 26, 1887 he was united in marriage to Miss Emma Christina Hagaleen of Ogden. They have made their home from the time they were married until his passing in our city & God's blessings have followed them in life's journey. They have been honorable citizens & good church members. Their children which are eleven in number have many memories to cherish from the childhood days under the watchful care & protection of a good Christian father & mother.

The Storesunds have been in the fellowship of the Ev. Mission Covennant Church for many years, having entered into communion during the years of its early beginning. In the Church he has been among those with whom the Lord has entrusted positions of honor, having served in the capacity of a preacher in the case of the minister's absence. His last visit to the church was in the early fall, & then he spoke from the pulpit & as usual admonished us all to walk in close fellowship with Christ.

Mr. Storesund was pensioned by the Chicago Northwestern Railroad Company in 1924 at the age of seventy after having served the company for forty-five years in the capacity of section foreman.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife & the following children, Mrs. Oscar Frejd & Mrs. Elton Briggs of Ogden; Mrs. Clyde McPherson of Des Plaines, Ill.; Mrs. Clyde Mullen of Des Moines; Mrs. Naomi Anderson of Des Moines; Mrs. Myrtle Gallagher of Des Moines; Herman of Des Moines; Mrs. Leo Boardway of San Antonio, Texas; Ernest of Ottumwa, IA; twenty-one grandchildren & five-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Helen Nelson, a large relation & a host of friends. At his passing Mr. Storesund was 78 years, 10 months & 21 days.

Services were held Monday afternoon March 27 in the home at 2 o'clock & in the church at 2:30 o'clock with the Rev. G. H. Erickson in charge.

Music was rendered by a mixed quartet composed of Einer Peterson, Mr. & Mrs. Chalberg & Mrs. G.H. Erickson. The hymns were 'The Old Rugged Cross,' 'When They Ring The Golden Bells' & 'Goodnight & Good Morning.'

The pallbearers were Messrs. Ernest & Herman Storesund, Oscar Frejd, Elton Briggs of Ogden, Clyde Mullen of Des Moines & Clyde McPherson of Des Plaines, Ill. Interment was made at Glenwood Cemetery."
