Ruby Nelson Bergman, 93, formerly of 1614 Fourth St., Boone, died Thursday at the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone. She had been a resident at the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone since June of 2000. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 21, at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone, with the Rev. Steve Gehman officiating.

Burial will be in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

She was born June 29, 1911, in Boone County, the daughter of John and Ellen (Nygren) Nelson. On Nov. 17, 1946, she married Clifford Bergman at Fort Dodge.

She was a 1929 graduate of Jordan Consolidated High School.

Following graduation, she worked in Des Moines at a mental health retreat. After her father's death, she returned to Boone to help with the family farm operation. In 1957, she and her husband moved from the farm into Boone. While living in Boone, she provided in-home daycare and did volunteer work at the Evangelical Free Church and Home.

She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in September of 1978, an infant brother and sister, and another sister. Survivors include several cousins.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, and from 8 a.m. until the time of service Monday, at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone.

Memorials may be given to the Evangelical Free Church or Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone. Stark-Welin Funeral Directors in Boone is in charge of the arrangements.
