Ruth Dailey, 73, a resident of Riverside Manor, Ames, and formerly of 402 S. State St., Boone, died Monday at Mary Greeley Medical Center of complications from cancer and a stroke. She had been a resident of Riverside Manor since the fall of 2002.

Funeral services were held Thursday at First Baptist Church, Boone, with the Rev. Randy Abell officiating. Burial was in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

She was born April 1, 1930, in Pulaski County, Mo., the daughter of John and Elsie (Howard) Pim. She was a 1947 graduate of Richland High School in Richland, Mo. She was employed in the medical records department at Boone County Hospital for 25 years until her retirement in 1995. Her hobbies included crocheting, drinking coffee with her friends and traveling to Branson, Mo.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Pierce of Ames and Sandra Pierce of Boone; two sisters-in-law, Katherine Pim of Jacksonville, Fla., and Martha Pim of Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Howard Pim, Paul Pim, James Pim and Williams Pim; one grandson, Michael Jon Pierce; and one son-in-law, Steven Jon Pierce.

Memorials may be given to the Boone County Hospital Foundation.

Stark-Welin Funeral Directors of Boone was in charge of arrangements.
