Sylvia Lundien Leininger, 96, a resident of the Eastern Star Masonic Home, Boone, died Monday at the home of cancer.

Funeral services were held Friday at the Eastern Star Masonic Home Chapel with Vernon Soderstrom officiating. Graveside services and burial were held at Prairie-Lawn Cemetery near Boxholm.

She was born March 24, 1908, in Ogden, the daughter of Arthur and Hilma Anderson) Sampson. She married Everett J. Lundien in Boone County. He died in 1956 and she married Louis L. Leininger Nov. 16, 1964, in Omaha, Neb.

She and her first husband lived in Boxholm and she and her second husband farmed near Gilbert before moving to Boone in 1970.

She was a homemaker. Her hobbies included gardening and lawn care.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell and Karen Lundien of Visalia, Calif., and Dennis and Deborah Lundien of Sacramento, Calif.; one step-son, Philip Leininger and his wife, Cheryl, of Ames; four grandchildren, Kelli Grabau and her husband, Dennis, of Marshalltown, Deborah Bockwoldt and her husband, Mark, of Stanhope, Bryan Lundien and his wife, Courtney, of Sacramento, Calif., and Nicole Lundien of Sacramento, Calif.; two step-grandsons, Kevin Leininger and his wife, Penny, of Lawrence, Kan., and Brian Leininger and his wife, Laurie, of Ashville, N.C.; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; one son, Dean E. Lundien; one brother; five sisters; and one granddaughter, Lori Lundien.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Schroeder Memorial Chapel, Sixth and Marshall streets, Boone, was in charge of arrangements.
