Margaret A. Hahn 1935-2006

A memorial service for Margaret A. Hahn, 70, Valley, Neb., was held Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006 at Reichmuth Funeral Home, Elkhorn, Neb. with Rev. Bob Johnson Offciating.

Mrs. Hahn died Sunday, Sept. 17 at the Nebraska Medical Center.

Margaret Hahn was born Nov. 20, 1935 in Ogden, the daughter of George and Henrietta (Wunderlich) Lass. She grew up on the family farm with six brothers, and attended country school a half mile from the farm until the second grade and finished grade school in Ogden, graduating from Ogden High School in 1954. Being the only girl, Margaret took on many of the household chores and washed more than her share of dishes. She was 10 years old before the family had electricity and indoor plumbing. In 1957 Margaret took a trip to Germany to visit some of her mother's family.

Margaret worked as an elevator operator in Chicago and as a keypunch operator in Des Moines. She married Henry Hahn May 23, 1959 at Zion Lutheran Church, Ogden. The couple lived in Des Moines, Omaha, and Valley, Neb. Margaret worked for several years until becoming disabled by severe arthritis. She enjoyed reading religious books and spending time with her family.

Survivors include two sons, Phillip of Valley, and Robert and his wife Liza and two grandsons of Omaha; five brothers, Harold, Eugene and his wife Phyllis, Richard and his wife, Alice, Stanley of Ogden, and Paul and his wife Kathy of Johnston.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; her parents; and a brother, Walter.
