Velma Christelle Wolf, 78, of the Ogden Manor and formerly of Boxholm, died Wednesday at the Ogden Manor. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. today, April 26, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm. Rev. Rod Meyer will officiate. Burial will be at Lawn Cemetery in Boxholm. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church on Saturday.

She was born Dec. 2, 1924, in Oakland, Calif., the daughter of Edwin and Jeanette (Hendricks) Olson. She was a graduate of Boxholm High School and Iowa State Teacherís College in Cedar Falls. After getting her degree, Velma taught elementary education in Van Meter, Fort Dodge and Rockwell City.

She married Bruce E. Wolf Dec. 25, 1950, at Fort Dodge. They lived in Monterey, Calif., for a short period of time before Bruce served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge from the Army, the couple returned to Boxholm where they farmed for over 40 years. The couple moved to the Grandview Apartments in Dayton in 1996, and later to the Ogden Manor.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Boxholm, where she was active in many church activities. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the N.A.S.M. group in Boxholm. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, entertaining, needlepoint and genealogy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bruce on Aug. 15, 2000, and a daugher, Janet Marie Wolf. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Julie A. and Ronald B. Patten of Runnells.

Carson Funeral Homes of Ogden is in charge of the arrangements.
