Vivian Thomas Stumbo, 82, of 3990 Inkpaduta Ave., Boone, died at the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone, on Tuesday afternoon, April 19, 2005. She had been a resident at the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone for the past two weeks.

Services will be held on Saturday, April 23, at 10 a.m. at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone with Rev. Peter Lillestolen officiating.

Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery southwest of Boone.

She was born on April 13, 1923 in Hamilton County, the daughter of Robert and Lorina (Bjorklund) Thomas.

In 1969 she married Ray Stumbo at Fremont, Neb.

She was a graduate of Boone High School and in 1951 received a B.A. in Fine Arts from the University of Iowa. After teaching art in Bettendorf, and Baltimore, MD public schools, she returned to Boone to teach fourth grade until her marriage in 1969.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant brother, and one sister.

Survivors include her husband Ray Stumbo of Boone, Iowa, three step-daughters, RaeAnn Clark of Boone, Debra Roberts (John) of Boone, Karen Wright (David) of Rapids City, Ill., three step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, two nieces, Leslie Shire (Larry) of Kingston, Pennsylvania, Ruth Stewart (Bill) of Arlington, Virginia, three great-nephews, Jason Shire of Tucson, Ariz., Adam Shire of Boston, Mass., and David Shire of Kingston, Penn.

Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Friday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.

The family will be present at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Friday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. to greet friends.

Memorials may be given to the Boone Area Humane Society.
