Warren Routh, 83, Boone, formerly of Corning, died Sunday at the Boone County Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, at Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service in Corning, with Larry Johnson conducting the service. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery (Quincy) Adams County.

He was born Jan. 24, 1921, in Carbon, Iowa to Kenneth Roy Routh and Mona Ann (Hunter) Routh. He graduated from Corning High School and attended Peru State Teacher's College in Peru, Neb. He served in the U.S. Army with the 34th Division, 168th Infantry during World War II, being sent to Algeria and he fought in the battle of Faid Pass.

On Dec. 27, 1946, he married Virgie Dhone in Corning.

He was a printer for the Adams County Free Press, a foreman for the Boone News-Republican and Boone Blank Book Company, and he was the Adams County Recorder for eight years, beginning Jan. 1, 1947.

Warren was a member of the Mason Lodge in Corning and Boone, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and he sang at many funerals in Adams County.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Truxton W. Routh. Survivors include his wife of Boone; a daughter, Vicki Williams of Melbourn, Fla.; a son, Scott Routh of Boone; five
grandchildren, Alison Shea and her husband Rick, Darcy Williams, Abbie Otten and her husband Jim, Nikki Routh, and Quincy Thomas Routh; and numerous nieces, nephews and more relatives.

Visitation will be until 8 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family funeral Service in Corning, with Masonic Service by Instruction Lodge 275 AF & AM and military honors by Ourcq Post 117 Corning American Legion.

Memorials may be made in his name. Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service of Corning is in charge of the arrangements.
