Yvonne "Von" Swanson, 83, Ogden, died Sunday at the Boone County Hospital. Funeral services were Wednesday afternoon at Carson Funeral Home in Ogden, with the Rev. Marty Jacobson officiating.

Burial was at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden. She was born Aug. 16, 1920, in Callender, the daughter of Roy and Gladys (Dolder) Fishel. She graduated with the Ogden High School Class of 1938.

She married John Clifford "Goose" Swanson Oct. 8, 1947, in Webster City.

She worked at the Frontier Market in Ogden and was later employed as an operator at the Ogden Telephone Company. The couple established their home in Ogden where they owned and operated the Traveler's Inn for many years. She retired in 1971 and she remained in Ogden until May of 2004 when she moved to the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone. She enjoyed playing cards, knitting, sewing and crossword puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1988 and son-in-law Tommy Nilson. Survivors include her daughter Emily Nilson of Houston, Texas; a sister, Ann Sarver and her husband Harry (Bud) of Madrid; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.

Carson Funeral Homes of Ogden was in charge of the arrangements.
