Eugene "Muskie" Musgrove 1945-2002

Eugene "Muskie" Musgrove, 57, 996 222nd Drive, Ogden, died Sunday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident west of Perry. He was born May 2, 1945,in Ames, the son of Clair and Dorothy (Cooper) Musgrove.

He graduated from United Community High School in 1963 and attended Iowa State University. He served with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a master technician with Nissan of Ames, where he has worked for the past 25 years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 817 in Boone and in earlier years was a volunteer with the Boone Fire Department. His hobbies included fishing, snowmobiling, tinkering with old vehicles, motors and clocks and going to auction sales.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Stacey and Kirk Naber and Sherry Musgrove, all of Boone; his companion, Karlene Millang of Boone; three grandchildren, Shayne, Julia and Jadon Naber of Boone; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Marcella and Doug Good of Boone, Theresa and Ron Wendell of Prospect Heights, IL, Mary and Chuck Happach of West St. Paul, MN and Monica Kreig of Rockville, MD; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church of the Sacred Heart with the Rev. Clem Currans officiating. Burial with military honors by the Boone Veterans Council will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Friends may call at Schroeder Memorial Chapel, Sixth and Marshall streets, Boone, Wednesday from 3 to 9 p.m. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation continues Thursday at the funeral chapel from 8 to 10:30 a.m.

Memorials may be given to the Boone County Health Care Foundation at Boone County Hospital.

Schroeder Memorial Chapel, Sixth and Marshall streets, Boone, is in charge of arrangements.
