HELEN AITCHISON: Feb 13, 1909 to Aug. 2, 2004

Helen Ethel Aitchison, 95, died Monday at the Boone County Hospital of Boone. Memorial services were held Friday evening at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Boone, with Jack Martz officiating. Private burial was held Tuesday in the Squire-Boone Cemetery southeast of Boone.

She was born Feb. 13, 1909, in Omaha, Neb., to John B. and Ida (Tinkham) Arringdale. She moved to Boone in 1913. She graduated from Boone High School in 1927. Helen married Walter E. Aitchison on May 3, 1930, at Perry.

She was employed with the Hosiery Mill Company in Boone. She was a long time member of the Boone Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She enjoyed growing African violets, crocheting and reading.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter, her two sisters, Irene Arringdale and Hazel Broadie; one brother, Burton Arringdale; and a son-in-law, Vernon Young. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Joyce Young of Ogden and Kathy and Mickey Cornelius of Boone; five grandchildren, Susan Ferry and her husband Tom of Arizona; Lori Jester and her husband Rich of Pilot Mound; Mark Young and his wife Jean of Longview, Texas; Darren Darner and his wife Kim of Plover, Wis., and Debbie Schraufnagel and her husband David of Stevens Point, Wis; 12 great-grandchildren, Joe and Julie and Erin Ferry, Tony and Chad and Jeremy Johnson, Mindy and Mason and Lucas Young, Stephanie and Zachary and Sydney Darner; 11 great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Guy Arringdale and his wife Mary of Boone; John Arringdale Jr. and his wife Pat of Corpus Christi, Texas; and Jerry Arringdale of Garwin; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be given to the Boone Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home, Fifth and Story streets, was in charge of the arrangements.
