Had Been Living At Home of Son Edward

Last Friday morning at four o'clock on September 11, Henry Mathew Germer passed away in the home of his son Edward, in the northeast part of Ogden, at the age of 79 years, 5 months, and 27 days. The deceased was during the greatest part of his life, an individual of sound body and an iron constitution and it was only of late that he began to suffer of nephritis and gall trouble, which was aggravated during the last week by a stroke of paralysis. These complications incumbate an old age hastened his demise after having been bedfast only two weeks. Mr. Germer was born in Prussia, Germany, on the 14th day of March 1846. When but twelve years of age he came to America to live in Clinton county of this state for eight years. In 1866, he came to Boone county and after entering holy wedlock on the 25th of October, 1873 with his wife, who preceded him in death just six weeks ago, he took up farming on his homestead three miles southwest of Pilot Mound. After following this vocation for forty years both retired to enjoy a well earned rest in Pilot Mound.

Four sons were born to this union: Louis, who preceded his parents in death about eleven years ago; Charles H. of Pilot Mound; Edward W. of Ogden and Elmer H. of Fort Dodge. Besides these, the deceased leaves ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev A. J. Boehm of Zion Lutheran church at the M. E. church of Pilot Mound, last Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. after a private service in the home of Edward Germer of Ogden. Interment was made in the Pilot Mound cemetary.
