Vivian Pepples, 71, 403 W. 9th St., Boone, died Wednesday at the Israel Family Hospice in Ames of liver disease. She was born Feb. 19, 1930, the daughter of Lester and Lydia (Jones) Ketelsen, in Clinton. She grew up in Clinton and moved to Boone in 1960. She married Leland Pepples on Sept. 16, 1957.

She was a housewife. She was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #104. Her hobbies included camping, cooking and participating in family activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Annie and LaVerne; two brothers, Charles and Richard. She is survived by her husband; four sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Dorothea Smith, James and Barbara Pepples, Charles and Marti Pepples, all of Boone, and Anthony and Katherine Pepples, of Belleview, Neb.; one daughter, LeeAnn Colvin, Boone; one sister, Mary Dykes, of Raleigh, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today at Schroeder Memorial Chapel, sixth and Marshall streets, Boone, with the Rev. Marvin Boes officiating. Burial will be in the Boone Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 8 a.m. until time of service.

Schroeder Memorial Chapel, sixth and Marshall streets, is in charge of arrangements.
