John Pesek, 92, 1316 Carroll St., Boone, died Sunday at the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone of heart failure. He had been a resident of the home for the past six months. He was born May 6, 1909, in Strathcona, Minn., the son of William and Antonie (Hladky) Pesek. He married Mary Raichl June 21, 1933, in Roseau, Minn.

He and his wife lived in Boone most of their lives. He owned and operated Pesek Blacksmith & Welding Shop from 1933 until 1992 when he retired. He was a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose and his hobbies included gardening, hunting, fishing and working with wrought iron.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and William; and two sisters, Emma and Mary. Survivors include his wife, a resident of the Evangelical Free Church Home; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Marjorie and Harold Cronin of Ashland, Oregon, Marilyn and Richard Hora of Fairbault, Minn., and Donna Pesek of Omaha, Neb.; one sister, Anne Biskup of Thief River Falls, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church of the Sacred Heart with the Rev. Paul Nguyen officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Friends may call at Schroeder Memorial Chapel, Sixth and Marshall streets, Boone, Wednesday from noon to 9 p.m. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation continues Thursday at the funeral chapel from 8 to 10:30 a.m.

Schroeder Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
