Mary E. Chingren, of Eldora, Iowa, and formerly of Boxholm, Iowa, died Friday, July 14, 2006, at Valley View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Eldora.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday, July 17, 2006, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm. Rev. Rod Meyer will officiate. Burial will be at Lawn Cemetery in Boxholm, Iowa. Visitation will be Sunday, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., with family present to greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., at Carson Funeral Home in Ogden.

Mary Elizabeth Williams was born on January 18, 1924, in Nevada, Iowa, the daughter of Willie and Corda (Capps) Williams. She graduated with the Ames High School class of 1942. Mary was united in marriage to Paul R. Chingren on October 19, 1945, in Boxholm, Iowa. The couple established their home in rural Boxholm where they farmed their entire lives. Paul passed away on January 2, 1997. Mary moved to the Valley View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in December of 1996.

Mary was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm where she was active in Ladies Aide and served as Hostess at the Swedish Supper for many years. She also belonged to the Squires and Dames Dance Club, Farm Bureau Women, and served as a Hospice volunteer. Mary was an avid Iowa State Sports fan.

Survivors include one son, Carl Arthur Chingren of Pilot Mound, Iowa; one daughter, Paula Jean and her husband Mark Seward of New Providence, Iowa; two granddaughters, Christina Mae Seward and Caroline Renae Seward; two sisters, Lucille Henderson and Lillie Williams both of Virginia; and two sister-in-laws, Hazel Williams of Boone, Iowa, and Myrtle Jacobson of Cheyenne, Wyoming. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul R. Chingren; two brothers, James E. Williams and Frank Williams; and one sister, Nellie Williams.
