Mary Beatrice (Betty) Danilson 81, of Boone, formerly of Woodward,passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone Iowa. Funeral Services were held at 10:30 am on Friday July 7th at the United Methodist Churh in Woodward Iowa. Interment followed at the Liberty Cemetery, north of Woodward. The Brandt Funeral Home was in Charge of funeral arrangements.
Mary was born August 24, 1924 in Jefferson City, Missouri to Alfred and Pearl (Blair)Kellogg. She lived with Matt Monroe and her daughters,Mary Jane (Pray) and Jo (Welch), who were like sisters, while attending high school. Mary graduated from Martensdale High School in 1942. She worked at Bell Telephone in DesMoines Before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. Mary Married Gail K. Danilson of Woodward on January 25, 1947 after their honorable discharges from the United States Marine Corps. They were blessed with four children, John Danilson and his wife Kathleen of Independence Mo. Kenneth Danilson and his wife Jan of Woodward, Kay Vaughn and her husband Eli of Afton and Dean Danilson and his wife Susan of South Sioux City S.D.: Nine grandchildren, Neysa,Cassie,Jackie,Marcie,Michael,Kelly,Paul,Jacob and Dustin and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Darlene Simpson and Marjorie Tinlin and two brothers, Phillip and Paul, Mary was preceded in death by her husband Gail On April 17, 2006, her parents, and two brothers, Gerald and Bob.
Mary and Gail lived in Ames and Madrid before moving to the family farm, north of Woodward, where they lived until October of 2003, when they moved to the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.
Mary was a Co-Owner of the former Woodward Drive-In and had worked at the Woodward State Hospital and school. She was a member of the United States Women's Marine Corps, American Legion, American Legion Auxilliary, Women's Military memorial (charter member) in Washington, DC, O.E.S. Chapters-Woodward and Polk City, as well as an assistant 4-H and Camp Fire leader.
Memorial Contributions may be made to either the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone or Hospice of Central Iowa-Boone Office.
