Dorothy Spencer, 82, 901 Greene St., Boone, died Monday at Boone County Hospital of pneumonia. She was born Aug. 2, 1918, in Knoxville, the daughter of Loren and Alice (Warden) Karr. She married James Spencer Nov. 4, 1951, in Boone.

In earlier years she was employed in Robinson, Ill., where she made candy bars. She and her husband moved to Boone in 1960 and she worked at Bourne's in Ames, and at Ralston-Purina and Hawkeye Laundry, both in Boone. Her hobbies included fishing, flower gardening, going on picnics and enjoying her family's activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters. Survivors include her husband; one son and daughter-in-law, Klee and Barbara Jo Reamsnyder of Granger; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Jim Hunt of Glendale, Ariz.; two brothers, Vernon Karr of Branson, Mo. and Floyd Karr of Stratford; one sister, Fern Blackman of Springfield, Mol; fife grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Schroeder Memorial Chapel, Sixth and Marshall streets, Boone, with the Rev. Phil Waldo officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

Friends may call at Schroeder Memorial Chapel Thursday from noon to 9 p.m. The family will be present to receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Visitation continues Friday at the funeral chapel from 8 a.m. until time of service.

Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.

Schroeder Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
