Iva M. Van Pelt, 90, Ogden, died Saturday at Ogden Manor. She was born Jan. 26, 1912, in Beaver Township, the daughter of Charles and Clara (Steinshower) Herridge. She married David R. Van Pelt Jan. 4, 1935.

She attended Beaver Center Country School and graduated from Ogden High School with the class of 1928. In 1930, she began teaching in a rural school in Amaqua Township. After retiring from the farm, she and her husband moved into a home in Ogden. She was a member of Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. Her hobbies included hand sewing and making quilts for her children, great-grandchildren and special friends. She also enjoyed going to town to pick out material for a new quilt.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in February of 1990; two sons, Robert in 1965 and Ronald in 1993; one grandson, Tim; one brother, Lewis Herridge; and one sister, Zola Herridge. Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Ed Van Pelt of Port Byron, IL and James and Marilyn Van Pelt of Grand Junction; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rose and Darwin Tucker of Jefferson and Judy and Don Nelson of Ogden; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marie Hagge of Sioux Center; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Community United Methodist Church in Ogden with the Rev. Richard Boatman officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Carson Funeral Home in Ogden.

Carson Funeral Home, Ogden is in charge of arrangements.
