Carol Lee Westberg, 70, Boone, died Tuesday at Boone County Hospital of complications of cancer. She was born July 10, 1932, in Boone, the daughter of G. Albert (Ab) and Katherine Hannah (Hunt) Smith. She married Robert Lee Westberg March 11, 1950, in Nevada.

She attended school in Boone and graduated from Boone High School in 1950. She lived most of her life in Boone and was a homemaker for other homes. She also was a caregiver for her family. She was a member of Marion Street United Methodist Church, Magi Chapter No. 139 of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. of Boone. Her hobbies included crafts such as Christmas, Easter, Halloween and other holiday decorations, and knitting, making mittens, stocking hats and scraves for birthday presents and gifts for all holidays.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Barbara Ann; one daughter, Julie; one son, Robbie; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy (Dot) Smith. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Virginia Westberg of West Point, Dennis and Gayle Westberg of Havelock, NC and Starr and Lori Westberg of Boone; three daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia and Jeff Ruth of Pine City, MN, Cheryl and Bob Ihle of Nevada and Candace and Brad Stevens of Boone; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, George L. Smith of Boone; and one sister and brother-in-law, Nancy Jo and Paul Bluhm of Mechanicsburg, PA.

Funeral services were held Friday at Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home, 503 Story St., Boone, with David Schwechel officiating. Burial was in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

Friends may call at Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home Thursday from 1 to 9 p.m. The family will be present to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. An Eastern Star Masonic Service will be held at 7 p.m. visitation continues Friday at the funeral Home from 8 a.m. until time of services.

Memorials may be given to the Eastern Star Masonic Home of Boone.

Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
