Fay E. Olson, 101, of Ames, died Thursday, June 22, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 25 at 2:00 p.m. at the Campus Baptist Church in Ames. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Fay was born on August 13, 1904 in Boone County to Vestal and Jennie (Wilson) Hannum. After completing high school she enrolled in Normal School and received her teaching certificate. She taught for six years before becoming a cook at Friley Hall at Iowa State University. Fay married R. Earl Olson on June 4, 1929 in Boone County. She was a member a Campus Baptist Church, enjoyed gardening, sewing, mosaic artwork, and cooking.

Fay is survived by two daughters, Donna Olson of Ames and Nancy (Jack) Dowden of Burton, Michigan; one cousin Marjorie Woolhiser; five grandchildren, Mark Dowden, LuAnne England, Todd Dowden, Kurt Dowden, and Troy Dowden; as well as thirteen great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, two sisters, and her husband Earl.

Memorials may be given to the Missions of Campus Baptist Church.

Adams Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
