Loran Carlson, 72, 931 Avon St., Stratford, died Tuesday at his home of congestive heart failure. He was born Jan. 9, 1928, in Stratford, the son of Archie and Violet (Neese) Carlson.

He was a graduate of Stanhope High School and worked on the assembly line at Webster City Products (Frigidaire) for 29 years. He also farmed during that time. He retired in 1990 and enjoyed traveling and walking.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bernard, in 1992; and one nephew. Survivors include two brothers, Robert Carlson of Stratford, and Orville Carlson of Ogden; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Stratford Baptist Church with the Rev. David Fernlund officiating. Burial will be in South Marion Cemetery south of Stratford.

Friends may call at Stark-Welin Chapel in Stratford Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. The family will be present to receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday at the funeral chapel from 9 to 11 a.m. and at the church from 11:30 a.m. until time of service.

Stark-Welin Funeral Directors of Stratford is in charge of arrangements.
