Norval M. Gragg, 83, 419 Mc-Pherson St. Boone, died Friday at Boone County Hospital of complications from a stroke. He was born Aug. 3, 1917, in Mullen, Neb., the son of Jesse and Stella (O'Brien) Gragg. He married Lucelia M. Welborn July 16, 1938, in Benkelman, Neb.

He graduated from McCook High School and McCook Business School. He worked as a bookkeeper in Benkelman, Neb., and for Tri-County Reclamation in Minden, Neb. He and his family then moved back to McCook, where he worked as parts manager for Hormel Chevrot for 16 years before moving to Boone, where he started Randy's Frozen Meats. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Boone, the Boone Rotary Club, and the Boone Golf & Country Club. He was past president of the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce and was 55-year member of the McCook Masonic Lodge. He wrote articles for the Boone News Republication and for the McCook Gazette.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in June of 1998; and two brothers, Homer and Jim Gragg. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Joyce Gragg of Boone, Neal and Jan Gragg of Faribault, Minn., and Kent and Linda Gragg of Waterloo; six grandchildren, Shaun and Scott Weishaar of Dublin, Ohio, Kelly and Stewart Johnson of Minneapolis, Minn., Melanie and Chad Angell of Colo, Bill and Karla Gragg of Christiansburg, Va., Amy Gragg and Robert Cooper of Rockport, Maine, and Jim Gragg and Nancy Finn of Iowa City; six great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Weishaar, Morgan Weishaar, Mallory Shafer, Casy Angell, Jens Johnson, and Amanda Cooper; two sisters, Nadine Cross and Dora Carlson, both of Boone; and several nieces and nephews.

The body has been cremated.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Richard Harken officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery in Lebanon, Neb., at a later date.

Friends may call at First Presbyterian Church today from 9 a.m. until time of service.

Memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church or the Boone County Health Care Foundation, both of Boone.

Stark-Welin Funeral Directors of Boone is in charge of arrangements.
