May Davidson Gray, 72, formerly of 327 Benton St., Boone, died Friday at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown of complications from cancer. She had been a resident of the home since August of 1988. She was born May 10, 1928, in Rinard, the daughter of Paul and Eva (Buswell) Masear. She married William D. Davidson March 2, 1956, in Blue Earth, Minn. Following his death, she married Raymond Gray, Oct. 31, 1986.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and the Relief Society, VFW Auxiliary, and was a volunteer for hospice while living in Boone. Her hobbies included working with ceramics, playing bingo, and being with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bill in August of 1983, and her husband Ray in January of 1990. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Barb Davidson of Boone, William and Janie Davidson of Boone, and Jerry and Joy Davidson of Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter, Delight Davidson of Boone; two step-daughters, Cynthia Spivey of Boone, and Dustine Byrd of Bristol, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; two brothers, Marlin Masear of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Lawrence Masear of Des Moines; two sisters, Pauline Hayworth of West Des Moines, and Ethel Rhoades of Altoona; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Boone, with Bishop Kim Sharp officiating. Burial will be in Boone Memorial Gardens in Boone.

Friends may call at Stark-Welin Chapel Tuesday from 3 to 9 p.m. The family will be present to receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Visitation continues Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from 8:30 a.m. until time of service.

Stark-Welin Funeral Directors of Boone is in charge of arrangements.
