Maxine Wisecup Jones, 71, a resident of Ogden Manor Nursing Home and formerly of Boone, died Monday at the home of complications of cancer. She was born Sept. 24, 1929, in Marcy Township, the daughter of Raymond and Helen (Adam) Wisecup. She married Jerold Jones.
She was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Boone County and graduated from Story City High School in 1948. She had lived in Boone since the fall of 1974 when she moved from Webster City. She was a homemaker and enjoyed listening to music and country music trivia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Andrew Jones; and two sisters, Eunice Clark and Joan Davis. Survivors include two sons, Keith Jones of Iowa and Art Jones of Des Moines; three daughters, Shirley Christensen of Clarinda, Chris Woolaver of Massachusetts and Cindy Jones of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Ben, Julia and Luke Christensen of Clarinda, Sam and Micala Woolaver of Massachusetts and Cathy Brand and Christopher Jones of Iowa; three sisters, Helen Fisher of Ogden, Doris Wisecup of Boone and Nyla Wisecup of Des Moines; and two brothers, George Wisecup of Oregon and Raymond Wisecup of Boone.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home, 503 Story st., Boone, with the Rev. Bruce Lakamp officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery southwest of Boone.
Friends may call at Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home Tuesday from noon to 9 p.m. The family will be present to receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Visitation continues Wednesday at the funeral home from 8 a.m. until time of services.
Memorials may be given to Hospice of Central Iowa, Boone office, or the American Cancer Society.
Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
