Kenneth Myers 1912-2001

Kenneth Myers, 89, a resident of the Eastern Star Masonic Home, Boone, and formerly of 628 Cedar St., Boone, died Monday at his home on Cedar Street of heart failure. He was born may 27, 1912, in Boone, the son of Lou and Rose (Eckley) Myers. He married Iva Belle Bowman Sept. 15, 1940, in Boone.

He was a 1930 graduate of Boone High School. In earlier years, he was a self-employed car hauler semi truck driver. He then co-owned with Wes Good the former Superior Food Store in Boone. He served with the United States Army during World War II and following the war he was employed with the Fort Dodge, Des Moines and Southern Railway. He then was employed as an engineer for the Chicago & North Western Railroad for more than 30 years, retiring in 1976. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Boone, American Legion Post No. 56, V.F.W. No. 817, Boone Golf & Country Club, Masonic Lodge No. 79 AF & AM, the White Shrine, and the B.P.O. Elks No. 563. His hobbies included playing golf, traveling and enjoying family activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one brother, Ralph Myers. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Jamie Myers of Boone; one daughter and son-in-law, Rose Mary and Dennis Stuckey of Boone; one brother and sister-in-law, Don and Bernadette Myers of Boone; one sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Floyd Hutchinson of Boone; his long-time companion, Fay Seymour of Boone; four grandchildren, Josh and Iva Myers of Boone, Scott Stuckey and his wife, Kristi, of Evansville, IN, and Todd Stuckey and his wife, Jodie, of Tulsa, OK; two great-grandchildren, Allison Stuckey of Tulsa, OK, and Kerris Stuckey of Evansville, IN.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Boone with the Rev. Fred Cressman officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

Friends may call at Schroeder Memorial Chapel, Sixth and Marshall streets, Boone, Thursday from noon to 9 p.m. The family will be present to receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Visitation continues Friday at the church from 9 a.m. until time of services.

Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.

Schroeder Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
