Helen Peterson, 90, a resident of the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone and formerly of 228 Carroll St., Boone, died Sunday at the home of congestive heart failure. She had been a resident of the home since September of 1995. She was born March 29, 1911, in Boone, the daughter of Louis and Hilma (Bengston) Peterson.
She was a 1929 graduate of Boone High School and was a secretary for Doran Law Office in Boone before moving to St. Paul, MN, where she served as a secretary with the post office for 33 years. She later worked for Minnesota Mining. She lived in St. Paul, MN for 53 years before moving to Boone in 1992. Her hobbies included traveling, cooking and singing. She was a member of the St. Paul Free Church in St. Paul.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include three nieces and a close friend, Lou Clausen of Boone.
Graveside services and burial were held Thursday at Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone with the Rev. Ron Honson officiating.
Memorials may be given to the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone.
Stark-Welin Funeral Directors of Boone was in charge of arrangements.
