Ada Arlene Troutwine 1914-2000

Ada Arlene Troutwine, 86, Boone, died Tuesday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines, of respiratory failure. She was born July 5, 1914, in Fraser, the daughter of William and Hattie (Seymour) Phipps. She married Alonzo L. Troutwine July 10, 1939, in Bethany, Mo.

She attended school in Fraser and lived all of her live in Boone County. She was a homemaker, and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Boone. She attended the Methodist Church in Fraser as a youngster. Her hobbies included quilting, baking, gardening, canning fruits and vegetables, and doing yard work.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990; one daughter, Terry; one son, Kenneth; four sisters, Louise, Blanch, Inez, and Ruby; and six brothers, Fred, Joe, Archie, Bill, Howard, and George. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Max Vance of Council Bluffs, and Sally and Jack Shortridge of Columbus, Mont.; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Gloria Troutwine of Boxholm; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Marcy and Arthur King of Boone; and numerous other relatives.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Church of God of Prophecy with the Rev. Mildred Davisson and Hughey Davisson officiating. Burial will be in Mineral Ridge Cemetery west of Ridgeport.

Friends may call at Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home, 503 Story St., Boone, Friday from 1 to 9 p.m. The family will be present to receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Visitation continues Saturday at the funeral home from 8 to 11 a.m. and at the church from noon until time of service.

Memorials may be given to the Church of God of Prophecy.

Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
