Margaret Ward, age 88, of the Evangelical Free Church Home and formerly of Boxholm and Boone, died at the Boone County Hospital on June 19, 2006. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 22, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall with Rev. Rod Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery.

Margaret was born in Boone County on May 19, 1918, the daughter of Ray and Marie (Brown) Brown. She attended Jordan School in Jordan. On October 9, 1934, she married John Ward in Jefferson. For over 25 years, Margaret was employed as a cook at the former Lincoln Restaurant in Boone. She enjoyed reading, working puzzles, her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was an avid Cubs fan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, James and John; a daughter, Joyce; three brothers, Maurice, Cleo, and Cecil; three sisters, Mildred Hawn, Jeanette Hopson, and Frances Sullivan; and a grandson, Randy Jacobsen. Margaret is survived by four daughters, Joann Jacobsen and Judith Walters and husband, Larry, all of Boone, Janice Lee and husband, Glen of Boxholm, and Beverly Kilcoin, and husband, George of Norfolk, Nebraska; a brother, Lloyd Brown of Spokane, Washington; two sisters, Alice McNace and husband, Bill of Boone and Lois Crain of Mesa, Arizona; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Ward of Boone; a son-in-law, Joel Pearson of Enterprise, Kansas; 19 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall today from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. where the family will be present from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Visitation continues Thursday at the funeral chapel from 8 a.m. until service time.
