Obituary from the Boone County Democrat 4-9-1914:

Mrs. Emily Yates Young was born in Canada 1-31-1826 and died in Moingona,Ia April 8th 1914. She was 88 years, 2 months, and 8 days. She grew to womanhood and was married in Canada to Halbert Young in 1846. To this union were born 11 children of which but 4 are living. From Canada the family moved to Wisconsin, from there to Minnesota, in 1872 moved to Dakota, and in 1880 they came to Boone Co. Ia. where they have since resided. Mr. Young, the husband, passed away some years ago. While in Dakota she made profession of the Christian religion and lived faithful to the end. The funeral took place Saturday morning at ten in the Welin Undertaking Parlors. The sermon was preached by Rev. A. L. Golden of the Marion St. M.E. Church. The music was furnished by Mrs. Ada Nutt, Miss Jessie Templin, and Mrs. Elsie Lawrence who sang "Rock of Ages", "Jesus Savior Pilot Me", and "Shall We Meet Beyond the River". The pallbearers were young men acquaintences from Moingona. The interment took place at the Mineral Ridge Cemetery beside the husband.
