Karl W. Blomgren, son of Nils and Stina Jonsson
was born at Bäkhult (near Strömnäsbruk) Sweden, April 10, 1871. He died on February 12, 1962 at the Kelly Custodial Home in Boone following a six weeks illness. . . He was age 90 years 10 months and 2 days.
Mr. Blomgren came to the United States in 1890 at age 19 years. He changed his name from Nilsson to Blomgren upon coming to America. He settled near Altona, Ill. In 1906, he moved to Boone County and established a home southeast of Boone where he engaged in farming. In 1943, he retired and made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Everett Hull. The past four years, he made his home at the Mondt Hotel in Boone.
He was united in marriage to Anna Fredrika Peterson on March 4, 1897 at Altona, Ill. To this union, six children were born: four sons and two daughters. Mr. Blomgren was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church. He had been baptized as an infant according to the doctrines of the Lutheran Church and was confirmed in his Christian faith in 1885.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1942; one daughter, Gladys; two sons, Floyd and one son who died when three days old; his parents; four sisters and one brother.
He leaves to mourn his passing two sons, Lloyd and Forrest of Boone; one daughter, Mrs. Everett (Clara) Hull of Madrid; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three brothers, G. A. Nelson of Altona, Ill.; Frank W. Nelson of Moline, Ill., and Elmer Nilson of Waterloo, Iowa; several nieces and nephews.
