John Moeller Services Held

Funeral services for John Moeller were conducted Sunday, Feb. 22, with prayer service at the home, followed by services at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Harrison Township. The Rev. Martin L. Seltz was in charge of the service, basing his address on Joshua 23:14, "The Way of the Righteous."

A quartet composed of Mesrs. Martin Michel, Leonard Michel, LaVerne Lutjen and Daryl Haerther sang the hymns, "It Is Not Death To Die" and "Come, Ye Disconsolate" under the direction of E.H. Herzberg, organist.

Pallbearers were John Nell, Louis Leininger, Fred Peter, Oscar T. Tietjen, John Lutjen and Henry Mindeman. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Hasstedt and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Haerther were in charge of the flowers.

Interment was at the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.

John George Adam Moeller, eldest son of Adam Moeller and Elizabeth, nee Michel, was born on April 30, 1878 at Atkins, Benton County, Iowa. He was baptized on May 19 of the same year by Pastor F. Reinhardt and was confirmed at the same church on April 5, 1891, by Pastor John Aron.

The year after his confirmation the family moved to a farm in Harrison Township, Boone County, near the village of Mackey. Here he lived until his marriage when he located on his own farm.

He was united in marriage with Magdalena Peter on April 10, 1901. Six children were born to this union, three sons and three daughters. One son, Henry, died in infancy.

Since 1892 he had been a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Stricken with illness last November, he submitted to two operations at the Boone County Hospital and died Thursday evening, Feb. 19, at the age of 69 years, 9 months and 19 days.

Surviving him are his widow; two sons, George and Albert; three daughters, Elsie Stolte, Caroline Krug and Dorothea Moeller; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Henry of Boone and Adam of Harrison Township, Boone County; six sisters, Mrs. John Happel of Boone, Mrs. Louis Peter of Independence, Mrs. Chris Grabau of Boone County, Mrs. Chris Lutjen of Stanhope, Mrs. J.C. Ehman of Chicago and Marie Moeller of Boone.

Friends and relatives attending from a distance were Mrs. August Krug, Mrs. Adam Gerhold and Wilbert, Albert Rathje, Lizzie Gerhold, Carrie Gerhold, Carl Gerhold, Peter Moeller, Mrs. George W. Rinderknecht, Emma Happel, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Alden and Howard, all of Atkins, Ia.

Mr. and Mrs. Martin Rinderknecht, Mrs. Herman Grabau, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Houskins and Jane, Henry Hesse, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Snouffer, Chas. Brown, of Cedar Rapids, Ia.; Louis and Bernard Peter of Independence, Ia.
