VanBora "Van" Teasdale, 48, of 502 25th Avenue SW in Altoona, Iowa, formerly of Boone, passed away with her loving family by her side at her home in Altoona on Friday morning, February 22, 2008.

She was born on January 12, 1960 in Pierre, South Dakota the daughter of Roger and Wanda (Hannan) Brookins.

On September 9, 1978, she married Larry Teasdale at Boone, Iowa.

Van graduated from Boone High School in 1978. After her marriage, the couple lived in the Omaha and Bellevue area before moving to North Pole, Alaska, and then returning to Altoona, Iowa where she has lived for the last eleven years. For the past ten years, Van has worked in the warehouse at Tone Spices in Ankeny, until her health forced her to retire.

She loved to travel and take cruises, collecting coffee cups from the various places she had visited. Van enjoyed spending time with her family and pets, especially her cats. She liked being outdoors where she could work and enjoy her water garden, take long walks, and go camping.

She was a member of the Corner Stone Baptist Church in Altoona and the American Legion Auxiliary in Bondurant, Iowa.

A son, Marshal Dean Teasdale, a daughter, Anna Mae Teasdale, and her mother, Wanda Brookins, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband Larry of Altoona; a daughter Jullie Gragen and her husband Mahlon of Des Moines, Iowa; father Roger Brookins of Nevada, Iowa; three sisters, Sandy Culver and her husband Chuck of Scottsboro, Alabama, Debbie Mangold and her husband Keith of Ames, Iowa, and Brenda Bass and her husband Alvin of Boone, Iowa; one brother, Otis Brookins of Jefferson, Iowa; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Services will be held on Wednesday morning, February 27 at 10 a.m. at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone with Pastor Alan Jahn officiating.

Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery north of Madrid, Iowa.

Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and again Wednesday morning from 8 a.m. until the time of service.

The family will be present at the Stark-Welin Chapel on Tuesday evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m. to greet friends.
