Beverly McCaskey, age 80, of 211 Crawford Street died Sunday, February 22, 2009, at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Her body has been cremated and a Memorial Service will be Monday, March 2, 2009, at 4:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Boone with Darrell Marlowe officiating. Following the service, a lunch and time of fellowship will be at the City View Reception Hall, 628 Story Street. Burial of her cremains will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery at a later date.
Beverly was born in Boone on September 1, 1928, the daughter of John and Irene (Teagarden) Lundgren. She graduated from Boone High School in 1946. On October 1, 1949, Bev married Eugene "Gene" McCaskey in Boone. She was a homemaker and a licensed reflexologist. She was a member of the Boone Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Bev loved gardening. She enjoyed planting fruit trees and tending her garden. She was an excellent cook. Her pies and brownies were enjoyed by many of her friends and relatives. In her youth, she enjoyed roller skating, ice skating, and was a swimmer. She worked at the Boone Pool as a lifeguard.
Bev was very artistic and enjoyed drawing. She was a very devoted wife and mother. She was married to her husband Gene for 52 years. Bev was a loving grandmother to her two grandsons. She babysat them and spoiled them, baked for them, and always made sure they took their vitamins and dressed warm enough.
As a reflexologist, she worked out of her home on Union Street giving foot massages. She was always concerned with other people and always trying to help others with foot treatment, vitamins, and healthy lifestyles. She truly loved people. Bev also was an avid reader and loved to study. She was very interested in health related subjects and organic herbal remedies. She especially enjoyed reading her bible and studying religion.
Bev is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Jack. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa McCaskey, two grandsons, Ian and Max McCaskey, and a sister, Patricia Bennett, all of Boone; and cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Friends may call Monday at the Kingdom Hall from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.
