Vivian L Parrish, 87, long time former resident of Boone, Iowa, died February 6, 2009 at the Buchanan County Care Facility, in Independence, Iowa from pancreatic cancer.
She was born on February 3, 1922 to Erick D. and Hulda (Safstrom) Larson, in Ogden, Iowa. She graduated from the Boxholm Consolidated Schools.
On December 24, 1943, she entered into marriage to Lowell J. Parrish in Boone, Iowa.
Vivian was widely known for her fried chicken when she was a cook at the Lincoln Restaurant in Boone for over 20 years. She then went to the County Kitchen in Boone where she was a cook for 3 years.
She became a member of the Open Bible Church in Boone in 1948. She was their pre-school and nursery teacher for close to 25 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1989, a son in infancy, a grandson in infancy, her beloved sister and brother Ennie and Eddie Larson of Boxholm, and sister Agnes Lester.
She is survived by a son Edward L (Ingrid) Parrish of Madrid, Iowa, a daughter Donna M (Dale) Brown of Independence, Iowa; 5 grandchildren, Scott (Brenda) Wade of Morning Sun, Iowa, Kevin (Shanna) Wade of Montezuma, Iowa, DJ (Jennifer) Wade of Mount Union, Iowa, Michele (Rob) Simkins of Baltimore, Maryland, and Kristi (Bill) Schwartz of Abingdon, Maryland; 15 great-grandchildren; and a brother Carl Larson, Pilot Mount, Iowa.
Services will be held on Monday morning, February 9th at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone at 10:30 a.m. with Don Howard officiating.
Interment will be in the Bass Point Cemetery north of Boone.
Visitation will be held for family and friends on Monday morning at the Stark-Welin Chapel beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
