Donabelle Martin, age 78, of 1114 West Fourth Street, died February 9, 2009, at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services are Friday, February 13, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Open Bible with Rev. Phil Waldo officiating. Burial will be in Mineral Ridge Cemetery, Ridgeport.
Donabelle was born in Boone on August 16, 1930, the daughter of Orson and Anne (Becker) York. She graduated from Boone High School in 1949. On May 19, 1950, Donabelle married Gerald Martin in Boone. She was a homemaker. Donabelle was a member of the Church of the Open Bible. She enjoyed flower gardening, especially roses and mums, fishing and camping at the Waterworks, watching television, and watching her sons play baseball. Donabelle also enjoyed family get-togethers, holiday dinners, and other family activities.
She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, LaVerne and Chet. Donabelle is survived by her husband, Gerald of Boone; two sons, James Martin and wife, Lynn of Clive and Ronald Martin and wife, Gloria of Boone; two daughters, Teresa Isaacson and husband Paul and Elisa Huss and husband Mike, all of Boone; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Wanda Graham and husband Gene of Des Moines.
Friends may call at Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. where the family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Visitation continues Friday at the Church from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. service.
Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.
