Linda Sue Anderson, age 61 of Boone, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa.
Linda was born on January 28, 1947 in Boone, Iowa, the daughter of DeWayne LeRoy and Edna May Conard Madden. She graduated from Boone High School in 1965. She attended 4 years at Iowa State University receiving her Bachelor in Science Degree in Physical Education and Home Economics. She also received her Bachelor in Science Degree in Elementary Education, then for 2 years she went to pursue Montessori Education in Omaha, Nebraska and Washington, DC. After her education she worked at Nadine's Drapery of Ames for 35 years, sewing, pressing and then hanging the draperies. Linda also worked at CDS in Boone as a mail sorter and was also a homemaker. She has lived most all her life in Boone.
Linda was a member of the VFW of Boone. She enjoyed her horses, gardening, cooking, sewing, fishing and hunting.
Linda is survived by her son, Jeremy Anderson of Boone and his fiancée, Rachel Moser of Norwalk; her former husband and life long friend David Lee Anderson of Boone; her parents, DeWayne and Edna Madden of Boone; her sister, Joyce Hart (Don) of Boone; her brother Craig Madden (Cindy) of Boone; her brother, Russell Madden (Chris White) of Cedar Rapids; her sister, Valerie Parker (Glade) of Floyd; her 5 nephews and nieces, Mark Hart (Michelle) of Cedar Rapids; Angela Kolker (Dave) of Sioux City; Dallas Parker of Floyd; Chris Ingram of Iowa City; her great nieces and nephews, Danielle, Jonathon and James Hart of Cedar Rapids; Tyler, Matthew and Sasha Kolker of Sioux City; her close friend Cleo Carroll of Boone. Linda is preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, September 11, 2008 at the Mackey Methodist Church, E 18 and V. Avenue, N.E. Boone County, Iowa. Chaplain Henrietta Klarenbeek will officiate. Burial will be in the Mackey Cemetery, next to the church.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 10, at the Walter ~ Schroeder Funeral Home, at Fifth & Story Streets in Boone from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday morning at the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. then continue at the church from 11:30 a.m. to the service time. Memorials may be given to the family, and will be used at their discretion.
